Payton Marie Keune

Yesterday my little brother's girlfriend went for a regular check-up at Dr. Byerly's office and ended up getting admitted to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for preeclampsia. She was really swollen from head to toe and had really high blood pressure. After about an hour of being observed, they decided to transfer her out to Odessa Regional. After a long night of waiting around for test results, the doctor, I believe it is Dr. Lively, decided that instead of just waiting around to see if she gets better that they really needed to induce her because her cervix was really soft and he could already feel the baby's forehead. He also said something about her lab work on her liver not being too great, but I wasn't in there when he was talking to everyone about that part so I'm not real sure what's going on there. Last night when we left the hospital, Kayla was relaxed and sleeping, but already dialated to a 2. Her blood pressure had gone down quite a bit, and the baby was also doing good.

This morning I heard from my mom who told me that not a whole lot has changed from last night. Kayla is still dialated to a 2, and her and Garrett were both sleeping whenever she called at about 7 am. I'll keep everyone updated as to how they are doing, but we might have a baby by the end of the day!!

Dr. Byerly told my Dad yesterday that if they did deliver, the baby will probably have to be in NICU, which is newborn ICU, for about 2 weeks. The doctor in Odessa hasn't said anything in regards to that yet, but I'm praying that maybe little Miss Payton Marie was just ready to get out of there and won't even have to go to the NICU unit.
